About this model

A faithful parametric homage to the String shelving system designed by Nisse Strinning for the Swedish publisher Bonnier in 1949 — still in production today and still the reference point for light, modular, wall-mounted shelving. Two thin powder-coated black wire ladders carry oak shelves that hook onto the rungs, so the system reads as much as drawn lines on the wall as it does as furniture. Each ladder is built from 5mm-diameter vertical wires connected by horizontal rungs every 5cm, with integrated wall-mounting loops at the top and bottom that locate the unit cleanly on a plaster wall. The shelves themselves are natural oak with softly rounded edges, snapped onto the nearest rung pair via four small wire hooks per shelf, exactly the way the original design hangs. Four parameters drive the whole system: width (40-160cm, default 80cm), ladder height (40-200cm, default 75cm), shelf depth (15-30cm, default 20cm), and shelf count (1-6, default 3).
