Prompt2CAD

3D models by chat.

Describe what you want, get a parametric model, export it to STEP, DXF, OBJ, GLB or DAE.

What this site covers

This is the end-user documentation for prompt2cad.com. It is written for the people designing in the app — whether that is furniture, mechanical parts, DIY builds, or anything else parametric and 3D.

The fastest path through is:

  1. Sign up — Google sign-in, 120 free credits.
  2. Your first design — prompt → plan → model in three steps.
  3. Interface tour — what every panel does.

Once you are comfortable with the basics, Working with Designs covers prompt craft, iteration, materials, and project management. Exporting walks through every output format. Billing explains how credits work.

What Prompt2CAD is good for

Designed for:

  • Furniture and interiors — cabinets, desks, wardrobes, tables, bookshelves, beds, vanities, full bathroom and kitchen layouts.
  • Mechanical parts — brackets, fixtures, housings, jigs, mounting plates, enclosures — anything you want to describe and iterate before sending to CAD.
  • DIY and woodworking — shelving, planters, shop fixtures, simple builds where you want a parametric model rather than a one-shot sketch.
  • Parametric variation — building one model that you can stretch to any width, swap finishes on, change counts on, without re-drawing.
  • Handing off to CAD or fabrication — STEP into Fusion / SolidWorks / FreeCAD, DXF into AutoCAD or a CNC workflow, DAE into SketchUp Free, STL into a 3D printer.
  • Visualisation — GLB for AR / web previews, OBJ + MTL for Blender, PNG screenshots for slide decks.

Not designed for:

  • Production-ready fabrication drawings. Geometry is faithful to the millimetre on export, but the agent is a design tool, not a CAM tool. A fabricator should still review STEP output before cutting.
  • Sub-millimetre tolerances or GD&T. For precision mechanical work, treat exports as a starting point and tighten dimensions and tolerances in your downstream CAD.
  • Animated assemblies. Doors, drawers, and other moving parts have open/close parameters that move geometry, but Prompt2CAD does not export rigged animations.
