Print templates
A print template is a single-page PDF that renders your model (or a chosen component) as a flat, scaled drawing — outlines plus holes — ready to print and use as a physical template or a scaled shop drawing. Open it from the Print button (printer icon) in the viewport top bar.
It is the bridge between the on-screen model and something you can take to a saw, a drill press, or a fabricator's bench.
What's on the page
- Outlines — the silhouette edges of the selected view, drawn as clean vector lines.
- Holes — every circular hole shown as a circle with a crosshair centre mark, so you can prick through to mark a drill point.
- Scale bars — two calibration bars (a primary and a secondary unit) so you can verify the print came out at the right size before trusting it.
- Printed-size readout — the real-world size the drawing will occupy once printed at the chosen scale.
- Model name and scale label in the header.
A live preview in the dialog shows exactly what will land on the page before you download.
Choosing what to draw

When to use it
- Full-size cutting templates (
1:1) — print a bracket or a cabinet side at actual size, stick it to your stock, and cut/trace directly. Best for irregular curves and hole patterns that are tedious to dimension by hand. - Scaled shop drawings (
1:10,1:20, …) — a clean orthographic for a fabricator or client review, with a scale bar so nothing is ambiguous. - Tile-and-tape large parts — for a panel bigger than your printer, export at
1:1on Letter/A4, print across multiple pages, and tape them together. Match the scale bars across the seams.
Verify the scale before cutting
Always measure a printed scale bar against a real ruler before using a 1:1 template to mark cuts. Most printers apply a slight scale or shrink-to-fit by default — disable "fit to page" in the print dialog, and if the bar is off, re-export or scale in your printer settings.
Gating
Print templates follow the same one-time gate as CAD exports: the preview is available to everyone, but downloading the PDF unlocks once you've topped up (minimum $10). After that it's free for life — no per-download charge.
What it is not
A print template is a flat outline drawing, not a dimensioned engineering drawing. It carries no text dimensions, no tolerances, no section views, and no title block. When you need callouts and GD&T, export STEP and detail it in Fusion, SolidWorks, or FreeCAD.
